Alfredo Baptista, 58 years old, is Member of the Board of Directors of PT Portugal, SGPS S.A since
2004; is also Member of the Board of Directors of PT Comunicações, S.A; of TMN – Telecomunicações
Móveis Nacionais, S.A and PT Prime – Soluções Empresariais de Telecomunicações e Sistemas, S.A.

Prior Alfredo Baptista was COO of PT Sistemas de Informação during 2003; CEO of PT Prime, SA from
2001 until 2002; Executive Vice President of PT Prime, SA from 1999 until 2001; General Manager of
Business Communications Unit of PT from 1996 until 1999; Board Member of PT International from

- Alan Hadden

Alan Hadden has 23 years’ experience in the mobile communications industry, and has been President of GSA since its formation in 1998.

Previously he was on the senior management team of a PCN/GSM 1800 operator (today called T-Mobile), involved in start-up, launch, and expansion phases. He assisted with discussions with key stakeholders and overseas regulators to establish 1800 MHz as a mainstream band for cellular and new mobile businesses. He represented the company at the GSM Association and the UMTS Forum. Previously Alan was Industrial Advisor to the UK communications regulator, and represented views influencing regulation and standardisation at national and international level.

Alan’s 2nd book, Mobile Broadband with HSPA, LTE and Beyond: Services, Markets and Business Opportunities, will be published later this year.

- Albert Pereira

Albert is a founding Director of Phonevalley in India. His current responsibility is to head the business of mobile across the Publicis Media Group of companies in India. Over the past two years Albert has helped launch Phonevalley India and grow substantially the mobile communication proportion in the media pie across categories and clients.
Prior to joining Phonevalley Albert was Director International Clients in Beijing China for Ogilvy and Mather. He has held 360 degree regional leadership roles in key communication networks. An ardent communications professional who believes wireless digital will impact consumer behavior dramatically, more so in digitally shy countries like India.
Albert has won numerous National (Indian) and International awards - Cannes Lions, ABME - Asia Brand & Marketing Effectiveness, EMVIES, & ABBYS.
 



- Antonella Napolitano

Antonella Napolitano Telecom Italia, Director, Marketing/Industry Relations & Roaming. GSMA Rich Communication Suite Management Group and Plenary vicechair.
In 2005-2007 she was Vice President in Telecom Italia of Research & Development  /Market Development & Business Innovation.
Since October 2002, she has been working for Telecom Italia Mobile where she was responsible first for Architecture & Services and later for International Fora and IPR. In her role, she manages the activities related to the architecture and service evolution, taking into account the development of the related standards.
She is author of several papers and books in the area of network aspects for mobile communications
From 1989 to 2002 was employed as a researcher in the field of cellular mobile radio, mainly GSM and UMTS and she was responsible for Standard Coordination. In 1994, she was chair of the ETSI Technical Committee SMG5, dealing with system and service requirements for UMTS. She was also the TIM representative of 3GPP TSG-SA and PCG and Chair of the UMTS Forum 3GPP Coordination Group for many years.


- Caroline Gabriel

Caroline Gabriel co-founded Rethink Research Associates in 2002. Rethink is a London, UK-based market research and consulting company specialized in technologies and business models for service providers and vendors, in the broadband wireless, 3G, fixed/mobile convergence and wireline broadband markets. It provides published market reports, customized research projects and business model consulting, and holds one of the world’s most comprehensive research databases of operators and vendors in broadband wireless, particularly WiMAX. Gabriel has also been responsible for creating the thought leading Wireless Watch and WiMAX Watch analyst services for Rethink. This provides weekly analysis and in-depth market reports on many aspects of wireless and mobile technology, with particular expertise in broadband wireless.

- Christoph Aktas
Sr. Director
Nokia Siemens Networks

Christoph A. Aktas is currently Sr. Director within the Voice & IP Transformation Business Line of Nokia Siemens Networks and located in Munich, Germany and Head of Partnerships. He is representing Nokia Siemens Networks in the RCS Industry Initiative since its launch mid of 2007 and is elected Vice Chair of the GSMA RCS program since 2008.

Christoph has a Master Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Erlangen/Nürnberg. Right after graduation in 1983, he joined Siemens Corporate Research, where he worked on Human Machine Interface, particularly Speech Recognition and Speech-based Dialog Systems. He is author or co-author of more than two dozen publications in this field including IEEE and author of 8 U.S. and/or European patents.

From 1993 until 1999 he worked in different functions in R&D and technical planning and lately as senior analyst for Alliances & Strategy with the Enterprise Division of Siemens Communications in San Jose, California. He later continued as Business Developer in the Enterprise Division in Munich.

In 2000 he joined Siemens Mobile Networks, where he has been with the IMS Business Line in different management functions until the merger of Nokia Siemens Networks in 2007.

Christoph has been frequent speaker in various international conferences, hosted and chaired conference sessions.

- Claus Hetting

Claus Hetting has worked in the mobile industry for 15 years among others for Nokia Networks. His experience spans mobile broadband projects across several continents. He is also an experienced telecommunications journalist and researcher, and he writes for industry publications on a regular basis. He is an independent mobile industry consultant associated to Ventura Team of the UK.

- David Brown

David Brown is Associate Partner at Ventura Team (www.venturateam.com) and has over 14-years of telecoms experience in interim management and advisory spanning mobile and fixed sectors.  He has particular interest in developing the understanding of the business case for FD-LTE and TDD-LTE in view of operators having already made sizeable investments in their UMTS networks.  Ventura Team has developed a suite of network modelling tools that assist with technology selection and spectrum valuation for any 3GPP, or WiMAX technology at any spectrum band.

- Graham Trickey

Graham Trickey is a Senior Director for the GSM Association in London and is responsible for many of the strategic projects of the GSMA.

His focus is on how to enable integration of the Mobile and Internet worlds and this includes responsibility for Messaging, new IMS based services like RC and the use of APIs to allow 3rd party access to network information. He is responsible for the Open Network Enabler API (OneAPI) project that is improving the way that developers can access network assets and capabilities.

Graham has worked for the GSMA for 9 years and was previously Director of the End-to-End Solutions group in Motorola, and has over 18 years experience within the Mobile Telecommunications Business. Before joining Motorola, Graham had spent more than 15 years in the semiconductor business, working for major names like Inmos, ST Microelectronics, Texas Instruments and Intel.

- Guy Redmill

Guy Redmill is Managing Director of Redmill Communications Ltd. Redmill Communications has been created to provide emerging technology and telecommunications companies with the marketing and sales expertise required to provide sustained growth. Redmill Communications works in partnership with clients to provide a true alternative to in-house resources for a range of sales and marketing activities. These activities may include the development and execution of a fully integrated go-to-market strategy, or simply the provision of temporary support to cover busy periods of the year.

Prior to establishing Redmill Communications, Guy was Director for Market and Business Development within the EMEA region for Cantata Technology. Guy was instrumental in the development of Cantata’s strategy for its EMEA carrier business segment. He spearheaded the establishment of key partnerships and helped drive these relationships to mutual success. He also led the implementation and execution of marketing programmes across the region.

Guy joined Brooktrout Technology, Cantata’s predecessor company, in 2001. He fulfilled a number of strategic marketing and product management roles prior to assuming his current position. Before joining Brooktrout, Guy was Marketing Manager at Telesoft Technologies. He has been involved with the complete life cycle of telecoms products, from development through to installation and product validation.

Guy has extensive experience of SS7 and IP protocols, as well as IMS and NGN architectures; is a frequent speaker at industry events; and holds an MSc from Bath University and a BSc from Leeds University.

- Hassan Claussen

Hassan M. Claussen has been working in the Telecoms and IT market for over 20 years. In the early 90’s, Hassan was heading sales & marketing operations in Hamburg (Germany) for one of the largest IT Consultants, Telemation (acquired in 2000 by Dimension Data).
In Portugal since 1996, Hassan started a new career in business development, training and consulting with international training experts, ComGlobal. During this time he provided valuable services to many individuals and enterprises in the area of IT and Telecommunications. The business he worked with was recognized for many years as a leading IT Consultant.
After 17 years experience in the Telecoms and IT markets, Hassan M. Claussen founded HanseCom Media & Communication in November 2004.
With HanseCom he is now working in the event management and organization industry specializing in the telecommunications and IT industry. Together with his team, Hassan focuses his expertise in developing profitable events, handling projects from design and research, to marketing and sales, through to speaker acquisitions and management running up to and on the day of an event.

- Jean-Claude Perrin
LTE Workgroup Chairman, SIMalliance & VP LTE, Gemalto
SIM Alliance

Jean-Claude Perrin, is LTE Workgroup Chairman at SIMalliance. The Workgroup has published a white paper and a recommendation on what the UICC profile in LTE should look like. Both documents can be downloaded from www.simalliance.org.

Jean-Claude is also Vice President LTE at Gemalto Telecom. His role is to define and implement the strategy and major changes in the Company product, solution & service offerings linked the LTE mobile broadband disruption.

During his 20 year career with the Smart/SIM Card Solution Industry, Jean-Claude held several International Marketing, Sales and Business Unit Management Positions, always working on leading edge subjects.

Jean-Claude has a Master degree in Business Administration (IAE Paris – Sorbonne) and graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Lyon



- Johan Lantz
Head of the IMS Products Business Unit
Genaker

Johan is Head of the IMS Products Business Unit at Genaker. He's spent more than 10 years in the Telecom and IT industry, including 6 years at the Ericsson Mobile Platforms Unit. Johan joined Genaker 3 years ago. He is currently leading the development of all products in the IMS area, including the cross-platform RCS Clients in the consumer area (awarded the "Best RCS Innovation" Award in the RCS Developer Challenge 2010 by the GSMA) and PTT clients in the corporate area.



- John Darnbrough

John Darnbrough has over 18 years experience in the telecoms industry.  First working at Cellnet as GSM Product Manager in the UK, John helped to position Cellnet to launch one of the world's first GSM networks during 1992-93.  John then joined Analysys, Europe's leading independent strategic telecoms consultancy, where he advised telecoms operators, vendors, regulators and investors on a variety of strategic business issues.  In 1997 John joined Nortel Networks where he held a number of management positions in product marketing and business development for GPRS and UMTS in Nortel's Wireless Internet division, where he specialised in mobile data applications.

In 2001, John joined WaterCove Networks, a vendor of next-generation mobile data network equipment, as Director of Strategic Partnerships, where he developed and managed OEM, reseller and marketing relationships with major players in billing, mediation, application platforms and network infrastructure.  John was also closely involved in WaterCove’s European sales and business development initiatives.

Since January 2004 John has been working as an independent management consultant and analyst, providing professional consulting services to the mobile telecoms sector.  Most recently he has been working with the GSMA, helping the mobile operator community to develop and launch next generation mobile communications services based on the Rich Communications Suite. 

John received his MBA from London Business School in 1991 and his first degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bristol University in 1985
 



- José Ferrari Careto

Mr José Ferrari Careto is Board Member of Anacom, the Portuguese regulatory body for electronic communications and spectrum management.

Mr Ferrari Careto, who was also Vice-President of APDC (Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications, a non profit private organisation), holds a Degree in Economics and has a large experience in the communications industry, both from the regulatory and operational points of view: he served as Board Member of several telecommunication operators, some of them during its start-up phase, and he participated in the first management team of Anacom, back in 1989, as Director for Studies and Planning. Mr. Ferrari Careto holds also experience in the energy sector, where he served as a Board Member during 3 years.

Mr José Ferrari Careto is 48 years old, is married and father of 3 children.



- Juan Mateu Mullor

Juan Mateu. Juan is one of the Co-founder of Solaiemes, an innovative start-up in the mobility and communication platforms space mainly in the IMS and RCS space.

Juan developed his career with several companies  including Colortex (textiles industry), ICEX (public Spanish entity for foreign trade, assigned to SouthAmerica offices 1 year), DMR (IT Consultancy) and Motorola Networks (4 years) involved in GPRS & UMTS  homologation and acceptance procedures in several European countries including UK, Germany, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Portugal and 1 year in China. Last role before founding  Solaiemes  at Motorola Mobile Devices business (2 years)  leading mobility solutions area in Spain.

Juan holds an MSc degrees in Telecom Engineering from Polytechnics University of Valencia (Spain) and an MSc in Economics from UNED (Spain).

- Louis Corrigan
VP Technology, CTO Office

Louis Corrigan works as a VP of Technology in the CTO Office at Acision, the world’s leading messaging company. He has over 25 years of industry experience gained in a variety of roles focused on the introduction of new technologies, and especially in the areas of mobile messaging. For the last 15+ years he has worked extensively with operators and standards bodies to evolve new technologies and have them defined as part of network standards.

Previously in his career, Louis worked for 10 years with Aldiscon, pioneers of the SMS world, where he was heavily involved in the definition of SMS and other messaging services in both GSM and PDC (Japan) networks, as well as being involved in their first commercial deployments.

Immediately prior to Acision, Louis served as CTO with Accuris Networks and with Mobile Cohesion where he was responsible for defining the technical strategy and introducing new products and technologies.

Louis has a deep understanding of the various cellular technologies, along with the operational and commercial issues involved in running a cellular network and the implications of introducing new technologies into operational networks.

- Luis Angel Galindo
Founder and Chairman of WIMS 2.0 inititive at Telefonica Moviles

Executive MBA from IESE Business School. Master in Services and Security in IP networks from Technical University of Madrid. Master in Production Management. M.Sc. degree in telecommunications from the UPM. From the beginning he has been involved in wireless networks, firstly in Motorola, and from July 1996 in Telefónica Móviles Spain. He was the IMS Project Director in Telefónica.

Founder of the WIMS 2.0 initiative (www.wims20.org), where are merging telco and internet worlds to create innovative services and business models, that he is personally leading.

Luis is a socio-technologic, analyzing how technologies are modifying behaviours and trends in the society. He is responsible of bringing innovation to the user.

In parallel, he is leading a new way of working with third parties, based on trust relationships with the aim to reduce time to market and capitalize innovation.

With high innovative and creativity skills, Luis is a promoter of the change inside his organization. Luis also is a consultant in 2.0 strategy issues helping organizations to capitalize the value under the web 2.0 wave.

He represents Telefónica in different national and international congresses and fora. Luis is a usual writer in specialized magazines about businesses and strategy, as well as he is the author of different books. The latest published is “IMS. A Development and Deployment perspective”

- Marcelo Manta

- Martin Ljungberg
Director Product Management - Mobile Broadband

Martin Ljungberg has the end to end product management responsibility for mobile broadband, including introduction of LTE, at business unit networks within Ericsson AB. He has been engaged in Ericsson’s mobile data and broadband activities since 1999 and has held a number of managerial positions with focus on WCDMA and LTE ranging from technical sales to product management and customer programs. Martin Ljungberg holds a degree in Engineering Physics from Uppsala University (Sweden) and Case Western Reserve (Ohio, US).

- Martin Strasser

Martin Strasser has about 15 years experience in the mobile and optical communications industry and since 10 years he is with Huber+Suhner who is a global supplier for passive interconnects for mobile communications. Mr. Strasser is a leading expert for installation solutions for remote radio systems which established as predominant systems for 3G and 4G. He and his global market team work with all leading system vendors, globally and locally, and with mobile operators and installers to establish and further develop optimum installation scenarios.

Mr. Strasser graduated in electrical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology and specialized on mobile communications, especially on adaptive antenna systems and modulation formats for mobile communications. After graduation, he worked on a master thesis about optical communications and received several national and international awards for his work. In 2001, he received his PhD from the Vienna University of Technology. Mr. Strasser is author of several papers and publications about optical and mobile communications. 



- Mothilal De Silva

Mothilal is the Group Chief  Strategy Officer of Dialog Telekom PLC,  Sri Lanka, a subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia. His portfolio consist of  Business and Strategic and Corporate  Planning , Quality Management and Process Improvement , Management Information Systems and Business Intelligence and Program Management .   He has gained authoritative knowledge in the strategic aspects of 4G and Next Generation Technologies  and he had given presentations in nearly 25 international forums in Asia , Europe and USA on this subject in the last 3 years .  Mothilal held a dual hat  position in the parent company , Axiata Group ( formerly known as Telekom Malaysia International )as the Vice President Process Excellence and Group Operations in addition to Dialog’s portfolio . From 2010 he was temporarily assigned to Axiata Group as a Vice President .

Mothilal spearheaded many company wide initiatives , projects that culminate  to the winning of many national and international awards . Among them are GSM in the Community Award 2001 , Sri Lanka National Quality Award 2001 , International Asia Pacific Quality Award 2002 , GSM in the  Community  Award 2002 for wireless Accessibility , GSM in the Community Award 2003 for Best use of wireless for Emergency  and National Business Excellence Award 2004 and Asia CSR Award 2008.

Mothilal holds a Bachelor of Science in Production Engineering from University of Peradeniya , Master of Science in Information Technology from University Of Kellee , UK , MBA from Post Graduate Institute of Management  Sri Lanka ( PIM ), Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Management from Netherlands  International Institute of Management , Maastricht , and Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management from PIM Sri Lanka . Currently he is following Doctor of Business Administration at Asian Institute Of Technology , Bangkok.  His research interest is Strategic aspects of Next Generation Telecommunication Technologies.

- Nuno Saraiva

Nuno Saraiva is a Senior Solution Architect at Ericsson Portugal with main focus on IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and Fixed/Mobile convergent Services. Mr. Saraiva has graduated in Electronics Engineering in Instituto Superior Técnico - Lisbon Technical University, in 1999. Having worked for Telepac and Nortel Networks in Network Design roles, and later for Nokia Networks, as a Solution Architect. He has participated in projects varying from IP Network Design, Charging and Content Based Billing solutions, Mobile Packet Core as well as Messaging and Video Streaming solutions, and from 2004, Mr. Saraiva has been heavily focused on IMS Applications and involved in a variety of IMS Projects throughout Europe and Latin America, with both Mobile and Fixed Operators, and with Applications ranging from PSTN Network modernization, IP Centrex, Push to Talk, Presence, Video Sharing, Instant Messaging and Next Generation IN based services, amongst others.



- Nuno Silva
Solutions Architect and Business Development Manager

Nuno Silva has been involved in the inception and launch of the PT Inovação "shipnet" framework - "Service Handling on IP Networks" started in 2005, in order to position PT Group as a key and world-wide player in the area of development of new revenue generating services.

He has wide experience in the fields of Network and Service Management and Service and Application Design, having also fulfilled the role of invited professor at University of Aveiro in these areas.
He has also acted has a consultant for PT Group in Portugal and Brasil, in the areas of Network Management Transformation and Consolidation.

He is currently acting as a Solutions Architect and Business Development Manager, in the scope of Next Generation Services and Architectures, for both the enterprise and residential markets.

He is the PT Inovação representative in the 3GPP Service Aspects (SA) Group.

He has a degree from the University of Aveiro/Portugal, and a Master degree in "Telecommunications for the Industry" from the University College of London.

- Paulo Simões
Senior Service Researcher

Paulo Simões has 15 years experience in mobile communications, heading projects and R&D. He has been involved in introducing most of the messaging services at TMN and most of the service network architecture. His current research topics involve SDP, Machine-to-Machine, IMS, RCS, Femtocells, m-commerce amongst others. He has a Master degree in Genetic Engineering.



- Rémi Thomas
Director of the LTE EPC Programme

Rémi THOMAS was born in 1959. He graduated from the "Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications" (Paris) in 1982.

In 1983 he joined France Telecom R&D where he contributed to the research and standardisation for GSM.
From 1995 to 1999, he chaired ETSI/SMG7, the ETSI sub technical committee in charge of the testing and type approval of the GSM Mobile Equipment.

In 1999 he joined Orange France where he has been director of the “UMTS network project”.

Today Rémi THOMAS is Director of the LTE/EPC Programme of France Telecom Orange the purpose of which is preparing the commercial launch of LTE EPC in the different Orange operations.
He is member of the LSTI Steering board; he is alternate member of the NGMN board.

Rémi THOMAS contributed to “GSM and UMTS – The creation of Global Mobile Communication” which is the GSM history book. He contributed as well to the “Wireless Engineering Body of Knowledge” (WEBOK) edited by the IEEE Communications Society.
He is on the « GSM Roll of Honour list » released in 2001 by the GSM Association.

- Sampsa Laamanen
Principal Consultant

Mr. Laamanen leads the Business Consultancy Team at Omnitele, a telecom consulting company based in Finland. He has been working within the telecommunications industry for close to 15 years and has held expert and manager positions in Finland and abroad. Prior to joining Omnitele in 2006, Sampsa worked for the regulatory and operator industries. Sampsa’s expertise covers operator business development as well as service development and management. He concentrates on the business effects of new technologies, as well as the competitive advantage they yield the operators. Lately he has worked on analysing the profitability of mobile broadband and preparing network evolution strategy approaches.

- Sasa Lekovic

Sasa Lekovic was born on 04/07/1971 in Bijelo Polje. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica in 1994 and he obtained his Master’s Degree at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade in 1999. In the period 1994–2000, he worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Science of the Montenegrin University. In 2000, he started his career in telecommunications within the mobile telephony of Telecom Montenegro where, in the period 2001–2005, he held the position of CIO.  In 2005, he began working in Telekom Srbija, within the Strategy and Development Division, as the Manager of the Department for Planning and Development. He gained his professional experience through the managing of projects, among which the most important ones are the following: implementation of MPLS network, development of Triple Play Service, development of network architecture for fixed-mobile convergence, as well as the development of the Strategic Plan of Telekom Srbija Group for the period 2008-2012.

In October 2008, he was appointed Chief Technical Officer. The Technical Affairs Division is responsible for planning, development, operation and construction of the fixed and mobile infrastructure, as well as for the development of all telecommunications and IT services. He is a member of the Managing Board of Telekom Srbija.

- Stéphane Jacquelin
LTE Product Marketing Manager

Stéphane and his team are responsible for promoting Alcatel-Lucent's LTE activities to position LTE products and solution within the market place and ensuring these fulfill the needs of operators.
Stéphane has held various positions in several telecommunication vendors over the years, including, wireless commercial marketing in Dallas at Nortel, wireless network design in Madrid and Dublin at Ericsson. With more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Stéphane is regarded as one of the top analysts in his field, having been the trusted advisor at some of the world's largest telecom providers and manufacturers. Stéphane joined Infonetics Research in January 2006, after eight years with analyst firm RHK, where he developed their European optical coverage and helped carriers migrate from PSTN to next gen networks. Prior to RHK, Stéphane was an engineer and project manager with Alcatel, Stéphane now specializes in IMS, mobile infrastructure, and voice over IP and circuit-to-packet migration products, services, and adoption trends of service providers. He also tracks and forecasts service provider capex, opex, and revenue. Stéphane was a McGowan Scholar at the McLaren School of Business, University of San Francisco, where he received his MBA, and has an Engineering Diploma in Telecommunications from the Institut National des Télécommunications, France.

Beginning her career in Nortel Networks as a development engineer for Mobile technologies, she witnessed the birth of GSM and its evolution into a global telecommunications success.
Throughout various key positions in R&D, field operations, 2G/3G product support, Marketing and sales, Valerie Layan has actively contributed to the adoption and successful implementation of GSM, UMTS, HSPA in various countries.
Today, within Alcatel-Lucent Valerie Layan oversees the EMEA Wireless business operations, facilitates the interactions between the players that compose the Mobile ecosystem and its evolution towards LTE, and helps regulators create fair and sustainable policies.
